Billy R. Neely, 72, died at Winchester Medical Center on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 from a rare form of leukemia.
He was a longtime resident of Richmond who had also lived in Virginia Beach and Winchester.
Bill was married to his surviving wife, Barbara Lipscomb Neely for 49 years; other survivors include his three children, B. Ray Neely Jr. of Winchester, Va., Rodney Franklin Neely and his wife, Helen Neely, of Vienna, Va. and Michelle Neely Martinez and her husband, Rick Martinez, of Leesburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Dylan Michael Martinez, Tatum Neely Martinez and Tara Anne Martinez; and his siblings, Ernest Neely of Buckhannon, W.Va., Betty Hinkle of Berlin Center, Ohio, and Katy Neely Brosky of Davis, Calif. Mr.
Neely retired in 1996 as Senior Vice President of Bank of America. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Naval Reserve for 30 years and previously worked for the Henrico County Police Department as a police officer and investigator.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 North Parham Rd., and where services will be held Friday at 12 noon. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.
