Margaret Mary Eckerman
was born June 4, 1907 in Toluca,
Ill., the daughter of Joseph
and Mary (Schwiderski) Otis.
She graduated from high
school in Wesley, Iowa and
attended Mankato Business
College.
On June 4, 1934 she was
married to Joseph R. Nickey at
Wesley. Joseph died in 1938.
Margaret then married
Edward J. Eckerman on April
21, 1941 at Wesley. He died in
1947.
In addition to being a
homemaker and mother to
her children, Margaret worked
for many years as a medical
secretary to Dr. Gauger in
Early.
She was an active member
of Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, Early, where she participated
in the Guild and
Rosary Society. She was a Past
Grand Regent of the Catholic
Daughters of America, a member
of the Federated Woman's
Club of Early and she loved
crocheting, knitting, craftmaking
and quilting. Margaret
also enjoyed cooking and baking
for her family.
