Ouida Mae was born in Farmerville, La., on Feb. 17, 1925, to Jesse and Velma Neal. She had one brother, Jesse.
Ouida met Buford Berry in Monroe, La., when she was 19 years old and he was a young private in the U.S. Army. They were married on Feb. 2, 1945, in Washington state, and a few months before his death they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
She devoted her life to her husband, three sons and grandchildren. After moving to Texas in 1967, she and her husband retired to Benbrook in 1984.
The family would like to thank the members of South Central Church of Christ in Crowley for their love and care; her neighbors and friends; the Odyssey Hospice; and a most grateful thanks to Shirley Long, her devoted friend and "special daughter."
Ouida was an exceptional woman, wife, mother, friend and Christian. Heaven has gained a saint.
Survivors: Children, Bruce Berry and wife, Donna, of Missouri City, Gerald "Bubba" Berry and wife, Cathy, of Azle and Bryan Berry and wife, Judy, of Colleyville; grandchildren, Ashlea, Courtney, Michael, Kim, Patrick, Chad and Nick; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
