Sonja is my cousin, who was a few months younger than me. We were very close growing up and spent a lot of time together. We shared a lot, including our love of purple, which has been the favorite color of both of us our entire lives. She died in her sleep totally unexpectedly a few days before her birthday. The cause of death was a diabetic coma. Her diabetes had only recently been diagnosed. We buried her on what would have been her 41st birthday. Her mother-in-law died two days prior to her. Her husband told me at the funeral "I buried my mother yesterday and my wife today."
