Joe Ann Baker, age 78 of Bledsoe, KY went home to be with Jesus after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY. She was born June 25, 1933 to the late Marion M. Napier and Anna L. (Pruwitt) Napier. Joe Ann was a homemaker and believed in the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Nobe Baker of Bledsoe, KY; her daughter, Anita Baker Tolliver and husband Steve of Harlan, KY; her sister, Juanita Napier Miniard of Chesapeake, VA; a special daughter, Pauline Boggs of Big Laurel, KY; a special niece April Baker Reese and husband Steve of Michigan; and her beloved pets, Dolly, Dazee, and Dudley. Many other relatives and special friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 12 o'clock noon in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Boggs officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, KY. Pallbearers are Josh Reese, Steve Reese, Steve Tolliver, Jeff Phillips, Jack Miniard, and Fred Middleton. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Dan Jackson, Ronnie D. Jackson, George Howard, Bruce Dawley, Tim Saylor, and the sons of Alonzo Turner: Clark, Calvin, Johnny, Alonzo Jr., Mike, Jimmy, Paul, Ralph, and Huskie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
