Funeral services for Donald Robert Naper, 74, longtime Gregory resident, will be Wednesday at 2pm in the United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dale Laufensleger officiating.
Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of the Kotbra Funeral home. Business places will be closed from 2-3 pm during the funeral.
Mr. Naper was born Sept. 22, 1897 at Naper, Neb. to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph R. Naper and died June 11 at the local hospital. He was a graduate of Gregory High School, attended Yankton College, Black Hills State College, and University of Nebraska. He and his father opened up a men's clothing store here in 1916 and he continued the business until retiring in 1963.
He Served in World War I, was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years, and was serving as chaplain of the Masonic lodge. He was a member of the Rotary club. On Nov. 14, 1926, he married Garnett Newcomb.
Survivors include his widow; one sister, Mrs. Marie Bernard, Lemmon; one brother, Howard, Sylmar, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a son, and two brothers.
