Addison Alexander "Add" Nalley Jr., 86, of Amarillo died Thursday, June 20. 2002.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military rites by D.A.V. Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.

Mr. Nalley was born in Itasca on Feb. 15, 1916, one of eight children. He had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years. After serving time in the Army, spending a lot of that in the kitchen, Add found a gift.

For approximately 50 years, Add was a restaurateur in Amarillo. From the Musical Pig on Sixth Avenue, White Lunch Box at Eighth and Taylor, Royal Pig on 10th Avenue, Add's Grill and on to the Grand Bowl on Grand and then the Western Bowl on Western, where he semi-retired in 1993.

He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.

All the customers and friends who passed through his doors were greeted with a warm smile, his trusty salute and a hardy handshake as only given in classy "Add" style. For his love of sports especially his beloved Yankees, for the love of his work, piddling in the yard, listening to a good song, Add will be missed by all. To know him was to love him. To all who passed his way, "Thank You" for making his life special. Join us in celebration of a "beautiful" life.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Hanks, in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Bradley and wife, Jo Ann, of Amarillo; four daughters, De Giles and husband, Les, Theresa Vaughn and husband, Dickie, and Deborah Thomas and husband, Michael, all of Amarillo, and Darla Harber of Canyon; a sister, Betty Mahaney of Alvarado; six grandchildren, Jason Hanks and wife, Kelly, of O'Fallon, Ill., Chris Hanks, Josh Harber, Cherri Christenson, Brandon Thomas and Daniel Vaughn; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Hanks and Brooklyn Edwards.

Add sounds like a wonderful person. If any of his family would like to contact me about genealogy, I'd appreciate it. I am Add's second cousin twice removed.
