OTTAWA - Everett J. Nagle, 98, of Ottawa passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, September 4, 2012, surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:00am at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00pm Friday, September 7th at Gladfelter Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will be in St. Columba cemetery.

Everett was born December 12, 1913 in Grand Ridge, the son of Henry and Belle (McGinnis) Nagle. He married Rita Hess on September 21, 1939 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa.

Everett is survived by one son, Michael (Eun Joo) of Ottawa; five daughters, Diane (Bill) Stevenson of Ottawa, Kathee (Bill) Thumm of Rockford, Mary Beth (Mike) Ursini of Ottawa, Julianne Nagle (Lee Devine) of Chicago, Kristine (Jim) Hilst of Manito; 11 grandchildren, Katie (Joe) Trupiano, Bill Stevenson (Shawn Van Horn), Michael (Angie) Stevenson, Renee (Kevin) Reilly, Matthew (Tracy) Thumm, Luke (Dana) Thumm, Anne (Chris) Batty, Sarah Ursini (Levi Weir), Nora Ursini (Mike Rice), Jenny Ursini, Marrita Hilst; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Everett was preceded in death by his wife Rita; his parents; two brothers, Clarence & Leroy Nagle; and a child and grandchild in infancy.

Everett relished the role of husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Reddick Library Board, and was an avid supporter of Marquette High School. He was employed by Illinois Valley Dairy and later changed careers to Met Life where he worked for 30 years until his retirement. Everett was awarded membership in the Met Life Honor Club.

Pallbearers will be Bill and Michael Stevenson, Matt and Luke Thumm, Kevin Reilly, Joe Trupiano, Chris Batty, Levi Weir, Mike Rice, and Shawn Van Horn.

Memorials may be made to Marquette High School, the Salvation Army, or the donor's choice.
