Davenport - Funeral services and Mass of Christian burial for Edward Fay "Babe" Nagle, Davenport, will be 9 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. A prayer service will be offered at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Nagle died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness.
Edward Fay Nagle was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Knoxville, Iowa, to John Fay Nagle and Hazel Nippie Holmes.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He married Janet Marie Umphress on April 27, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo. He later married Doris Harris on Oct. 15, 1976, in Davenport. She preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 1985.
He was a member and a very active volunteer at St. Anthony Church, Moose Club, Elks Club, Eagles, Knights of Columbus 532 and the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Pall Bearer Club.
He retired in 1986 as a commercial insulator for Iowa Illinois Thermal Insulation. Memorials may be made to the family.
Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Nagle, Davenport, and Jane Williams and her husband, Scott, Iowa City; sons, Randall Nagle, and his wife, Donna, Davenport, Thomas Nagle, Columbus, Ohio, and Robert Nagle, Denver; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Dee Riepe. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Nagle, on Jan. 10, 1989.
