Sidney W. Neel, 74, of Martinsburg, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at City Hospital.

Born March 1, 1932, in Yards, Va., he was the son of the late Julian Neel and Elizabeth Neel Baumgardner.


He retired from E.I. DuPont. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne Division. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Class. He was a member and past master of Robert White A.F.& A.M. Lodge 67, and ancillary groups including York and Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Lowe Neel; two daughters, Christy N. Polak and Susan N. Butler, both of Martinsburg; one sister, Patricia A. Breheim of Chesapeake, Va.; one grandson; two stepgrandchildren; and one niece.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Kenneth J. Fizer will officiate. Masonic graveside services will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
