Evelyn M. Cox
Scio-Evelyn Meyers Cox, 63, died July 29 at Medford Hospital. She was born June 18, 1926 in Riverside, CA and moved to Salem in 1937. She graduated from Salem High School in 1944 and attended OSU.
She married Clarence L. Cox in 1945. They owned and operated three grocery stores; The East Morland Grocery in Portland; Kingwood Market in West Salem and for 12 yeas, the Cox Family Market in Scio. They retired in 1984. Her husband survives.
Mrs. Cox belonged to the Salem Zenith Club and the Stayton Bowling Association. She also enjoyed golfing and outdoor sports.
Surviving besides her husband are: daughters Lori Cox of Scio, Lisa Hughes of Medford and Lynn Page of Portland; son Andy of Scio; mother Clara Vicary of Salem; sisters Maxine Bartruff and Peggy Senske, both of Salem and Betty Weiss of Silverton; brother Harold Myers of Turner. Her funeral was Wednesday, August 2, 1989 at the Virgil T. Golden Funeral Home in Salem. Burial followed at Miller Cemetery in Scio.
