Claudine M. 'Dean" Amberg was born on May 29, 1929 in Crescent to Claude W. and Minnie (Hamlin) Myers. She grew up in Crescent, graduating from Crescent High School in 1947. Dean attended Central State University in Edmond, receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten for many years at the Lake Park Elementary school in OKC, retiring in 1973. Dean married Jacob Amberg on April 23, 1971 in Gainesville, TX. They lived in OKC for a few years, moving to Grand Isle, LA for thirteen years, then to Cushing in 1998 to be near family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Dean liked taking care of her flower garden. She enjoyed cooking for her family and traveling. Dean was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Dean passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2007 in Cushing. Dean is survived by her loving husband Jacob Amberg; son Jack Amberg and wife Jennifer; daughters Jan Elizabeth Mitchell and husband Georg, Cathy Reinecke and husband David; sisters Verna Swaim, Margaret Lovelace; grandchildren Jill, Brad and Jeff Reinecke, Asa and Ty Mitchell. Dean was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cula Short and nephew Scott Short Jr, who was like a brother. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Cushing. Rev. Ted Uhlig will officiate. Interment will follow at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Cushing, OK.
