Elice's parents are listed on her death certificate and are buried in this same cemetery.
Two of her brothers that I know of are in this same cemetery also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She is in the 1920 census in Portland as Dora, living with husband Miles Myers and children.
She is in most records as first name Dora. A nickname for her middle name of Eldora, a nickname she probably picked up as a young child and a name that "stuck" with her. Or she may have started being called Dora after she grew up?
She is on her State of OR death certificate as Elice Eldora.
She is in her funeral notice in the newspaper as Elice Eldora also.
She is on her husband's WW1 draft registration card as "nearest relative" since she was his wife and she was listed as Alsie Eldora.
In her son Vernon's marriage record in 1942, Vernon's mother is listed in the marriage record as maiden name Elsie Godbey.
She is in the 1880 census living with her parents and listed as Alice E. Godbey.
So take your pick as to which one is right.
I chose Elice as her first name by the "majority rules" principle since there are 2 records that call her Elice and all the other records only have one other spelling of the name.
So that is what it will be unless somebody else comes along and has something to prove otherwise in the future who comes across this page.
The funeral notice of her father in the newspaper nor the write up on her mother's page include mention of Elice and that would be due to the fact that Elice died quite some time before her parents did and was sort of "out of sight out of mine" in a manner of speaking. It is too bad somebody in that family did not see to it that Elice was mentioned as having died before their parents did in their funeral notices. Elice's funeral notice in the paper only listed her husband and children as survivors and did not mention a single one of her siblings who survived her.
