Mrs. Sylvia Eckler, 79, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 25, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. The Pittsboro resident was a native of Dry Ridge, Kentucky and she was born Oct. 25, 1901. Her parents were Jesse and Nora (May) Myers. On March 23, 1923, she was married at Dry Ridge to John Wesley Eckler, a Primitive Baptist minister. In 1937, she and her husband moved to the Pittsboro area and he died Oct. 21, 1954. Mrs. Eckler was a member of the Pittsboro United Methodist Church and the Birthday and Study Clubs at Pittsboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Juanita) Tanselle, Pittsboro, a son, Wesley Eldon Eckler, Indianapolis; two grandsons and a granddaughter, Dr. Timothy R. Tanselle, Crawfordsville, John W. Tanselle and Debbie Eckler, both of Indianapolis; and a brother-in-law, Estil B. Eckler, Indianapolis.
Rev. Byron Rohrig conducted the services at the Pittsboro United Methodist Church, Friday afternoon, Aug. 28. Burial followed at the K of P Cemetery, Lizton. Arrangements were made by the David A. Hall Mortuary, Pittsboro.
