Mrs. Buena Vista Barba, 98, widow of W. H. Barbe and one of western Greene County's oldest women, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1954, at her home in Carmichaels.
Born July 28, 1856 at Garards Fort, she was a daughter of Peter Alfred and Louisa Roberts Myers and was married in 1878 to Atty. W. Harvey Barbe, who served as district attorney of Greene County from 1883 to 1885 inclusive.
Most of her life was spent in Waynesburg, except for the past seven years when she resided with her son, Burgess Frank W. Barbe in Carmichaels. She attended and was graduated from Waynesburg College, and for several years served as matron at Walton Hall, women's dormitory at the college.
She is survived by one son, Burgess Frank W. Barbe of Carmichales. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, J. Albert Barbe who was killed by lightning while in camp at Mt. Gretna with Co. K. 10th Pennsylvania Regiment.
