Thelma Myatt Bristow, 95, went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 Years, Earl Bristow, Sr.
Service: 1:30 p.m. on October 5, 2015 at Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery on FM 600 Road, Abilene. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association .
Thelma was born April 14, 1920 to R.A. and Tek Myatt and was raised on the original Jones County homestead farm near Fort Phantom Hill.
Thelma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a wonderfully giving woman. She is remembered many people as the kind lady who owned and operated the Valley View Grocery store for many years. This was back in the day before big supermarkets, drive-in grocery stores and credit cards. She kept a notebook of customers' weekly purchases and was paid when they got paid on Friday. She helped many families through difficult times. She also loved to fish and spent a lot of time with her son, grandchildren and nephews fishing at the lakeside home. She loved her church and remained a faithful member of Grace Methodist Church even after moving to Fort Worth ten years ago.
Survivors: son, Earl Bristow and his wife, Alecia; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren plus loving nephews, nieces and cousins.
