Funeral service for Mr. Jessie William Muston, 85, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Sevar officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston, Texas, with Bro. Lin Dykes officiating. Mr. Muston passed away n Monday, October 19, 2009, in Nacogdoches. Jessie was born May 14, 1924, in Bronte, Texas, the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Fannie Serina McCalb Muston. Jessie served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a corporal at Camp Shelby in Mississippi. While in the service, he won several decorations including the ATO Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as a deacon. Jessie worked as a truck driver for 25 years for Red Ball Motor Freight out of Houston, Texas. Jessie was an avid gardener and enjoyed making ceramics. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all who knew and loved him will miss him. Jessie is survived by his wife of 21 years, Dora Lee Fikes-Mackey Muston, of Nacogdoches; a daughter, Patsy J. Matthews and husband, Bobby, of Magnolia, Texas; three sons, Larry W. Muston and wife, Janice, of Tomball, Bobby D. Muston and wife, Terry, of North Carolina, Tommy J. Muston and wife, Deborah, of Houston; two sisters, Nannie Fay Muston of Rockdale, Texas, and Berneta Stephens of Modesta, California; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Delores Muston; two brothers, Leonard and Vernon Muston; and five sisters, Vivian, Wanda, Ronda, Bonnie and Dot. Pallbearers will be Ray Shadden, Bill Corbin, Jimmy Scott, Jim Potter, LaVaughn Parrish, Tom Pletcher, Matt Villarreal and Bobby Matthews. Laird Funeral Home.
