L. Mabel Musser Bierly February 7, 1917 -April 22, 2009 L. Mabel Musser Bierly, 92, a resident of Wynwood House, Centre Hall, peacefully entered the Lord's house on April 22, 2009. Born in Bellefonte on February 7, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Earl C. and Charlotte (Ulrich) Musser. On July 13, 1935 in Bellefonte, she married Nevin R. Bierly who predeceased her on July 2, 1974. She is survived by four daughters and one son; Barbara A. Moyer (Lynn), of Acme, Pa., Carol M. Hayes (John), of Centre Hall, Richard M. Bierly (Pat), of Bellefonte, Doris J. Brooks (Joseph), of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Amy L. Mitchell (Steven), of Blanchard. Also surviving are two sisters; Marjorie Sholl, of Bellefonte and Anna Belle Hartman, of Live Oak, Fla. There are 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers; Elmer Musser, Earl Musser, Joseph Musser and L. Thomas Musser, Sr.; and three sisters, Doris Musser, Louise Penrod and Eleanor Biddle. Mabel was president of her senior class at Bellefonte High School, Class of 1935. She was involved in many social and civic activities during her lifetime. In the 1940's when the family lived in Avenel, N.J, she was president of the PTA. Upon returning to Bellefonte in 1951, Mabel was involved with the Bellefonte Woman's Club where she held many offices and was chairwoman of the annual Pecan Drive. She donated over 1000 hours of her time at the Beauty Shop at Centre Crest and was honored as Volunteer of the Year for 1985. Mabel was a loyal and active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, for almost 60 years. She worked tirelessly for her Lord and church, heading and serving on numerous committees. Mabel and her husband, Nevin, owned Bierly's Marine Center which served the local community until his death. Many will also remember Mabel's smile at Musser's Farm Market. She was most happy tending her lawn and flower gardens at her home on Jacksonville Road, Bellefonte. She loved hosting picnics for family and friends. Friends will be received from 9:30 am until 11:00 am Monday, April 27, 2009 at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc. 206 1U2 N. Spring St., Bellefonte. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Bellefonte, Pa
