Roma Lee (Murphy) Sing, 73, of Hemet, Calif., formerly of Alma, died on March 22, 2008, at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet.
Roma was born April 13, 1934, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Velda (Cox) Murphy and Ralph Murphy. On March 5, 1955, she married Robert Sing in Long Beach, Calif. They made their home briefly in Gardena, Calif., before moving to Fountain City. They lived in Buffalo County for nearly 50 years, having resided in Fountain City, Mondovi, Alma and Cochrane. In retirement Roma and Robert relocated to Hemet.
Roma was a loving mother who dedicated herself to family as a stay-at-home mother. Once her children were grown she worked as an activities assistant at the Cochrane Lutheran Home and St. Michael's Nursing Home in Fountain City, where she was passionate about working with the residents. She enjoyed league bowling, couples and line dancing and bingo. Roma was a talented painter and crafter who enjoyed gifting her crafts to others. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary the Hemet Red Hat Society and Hemet 24 Hour Club. Roma was a practical joker who treasured time with family and friends and enjoyed spending time being entertained by her cats, Stinker and Sassy. Roma was a loving and caring person who will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Sing of Hemet; one son, Rick (Kristy) Sing of Oceanside, Calif.; three daughters, Roxanne Sing of Hamilton, Mont., Roberta (Mike) Czaplewski of Albert Lea, Minn., and Rinda (Mike) Finucan of Camp Douglas; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Velda (Cox) Price and Ralph Murphy; stepfather, Clifton Price; a brother, Pat Murphy; sister, Effie Hyde; daughter, V. Renee Earney and mother-in-law, Eleanor (Mehringer) Sing.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma, with the Rev. Joel Bacon officiating. Burial will follow at Alma Memorial Cemetery.
A time of visitation and support will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 28, at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel, and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
