Bridget Murphy Barron
Birth: 1813
County Wexford, Ireland
Death: Mar. 2, 1885
Monroe County
Iowa, USA

Bridget (Murphy) and Philip Barron were born and married in Ireland.

They had at least 8 children all in New Ross, Wexford, Ireland.

Known Children are;

James 1840 - 1892
Hannah 1841 - 1912
Jane 1848 - 1914
Sylvester 1850 - 1926
Nicholas 1852

The family left Ireland in 1854. They were Irish Catholic under British rule and had no education which meant they couldn't read or write. The baby died on the ship coming over and was buried "at sea". When the family arrived in New York City, Philip got a job in a Livery Stable. He was kicked in the chest by a horse and died in 1855. The children were taken away from Bridget and put in a foundling home. The oldest child James came of age and tried to put the family back together. Children, Jane, Hannah, and Sylvester along with Mom, Bridget show in Iowa, all living with James. Family stories that were told said the other children were shipped out on "Orphan Trains" and were never heard from again. Bridget lost the baby, Philip and some of her children.
