MRS EMMA MURPHY DIED SUDDENLY MONDAY
Apptexy Causes Death of Third Street
Resident at the Age of Eighty-one Years.
Mrs. Emma Murphy passed away very
unexpectedly Monday night after a few hours
serious illness. Apop]exy is given as the cause
of her death. Mrs. Murphh had been in her
usual health until a few days before her death
when she was troubled with indigestion. Her
illness did not keep her confined ro the house,
however, and on both Sunday and Monday,
she spent a few hours with her neighbors.
Emma Turnbull was born in North Jackson,.
Ohio July 28, 1841. When she had finished her
studies in the public school, she commenced
teaching and followed that profession for a
few years. At Newton Falls, Ohio, she was
united in marriage with James Patterson.
They resided at Newton Fails for several
years. Mr. Patterson died in 1900.
Mrs. Patterson came to Gass City to reside in
1909 after her marriage with John W. Murphy
of this place. Mr. Murphy passed away several
Mrs. Murphy became a member of the
Christian church while a resident at Newton
Falls. Since her residence in Cass City, she
has been an attendant at the Baptist church
and took a great interest in its activities.
Funeral services were conducted at the late
residence of Mrs. Murphy on Third St.
Thursday afternoon by Rev. A. G. Newberry,
pastor of the Baptist church. The remains
were sent to Newton Palls for burial.
Mrs. Murphy leaves one sister, Mrs. A.
Patterson of Girard, Ohio, who is the only
surviving member of a family of 17 children.
Relatives from a distance who attended the
funeral here Thursday are Jas. Patterson of
Girard, Ohio, Mrs. H. Maxwell of Cleveland,
Oh., and A. A. Hitchcoek and Mrs. N. Morion
