Teddy Lee Murphy, 72, of Winterset died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, with burial to follow in the Harper Cemetery, near Redfield.

Visitation will be held 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, with family present to receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m, and a prayer service will begin at 8 p.m., Tuesday evening.

Memorials in Teddy's name may be directed to an organization of the donor's choice.

Teddy Lee Murphy was born July 4, 1940 in Redfield, Iowa, the son of Millard and Maxell (Thompson) Murphy. He married Jodi Dooley-Myers on July 26, 1985 in Menlo, Iowa.

Teddy worked for Redfield Brick and Tile Company early in life and also worked for Kirby Oil in Redfield for a time. He retired from Super Value Warehouse in Des Moines after nearly 30 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 147.

Teddy enjoyed farming and worked for numerous farmers throughout his lifetime. He also was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, planting a tree or two, and loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Jodi Murphy of Winterset; six children, Romona Estell (Kyle) of Coffeen, IL; Sherry Norton of Adel; Linda Libby (Gene) of Winterset; Keith Murphy (Karen) of Polk City; Kelly Myers (Kelly) of Kansas City, MO; and Joe Myers (Waynel Friesth) of Des Moines. He is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn McCorkel of Guthrie Center; Peggy Goetz of Fontanelle; a sister-in-law, Sharlene Murphy of Menlo; 16 grandchildren, Heather Estell (David Miller), Brandy Rufus (Kyle), Brooke Grotts (Rick), Breeze Bollard (Matt), Tasha Marvin (Larry), Tiff Wolfe (Curt), DJ Norton (Tahara), Isaac Norton, Colby Foster (Rochelle), Lucas Hughes, Ethan and Madelyn Libby, Elizabeth, Sara, Neil and Lily Murphy; and 17 great-grandchildren, Pyper, Cale, Alyah, Kevin, Sabrinia, Beth, Keeley, Nakita, Dakota, Kylor, Tylor, Samuel, Able, Ryder, Dylan, Garrett, and Connor.

Teddy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Virgil and Bobbie Murphy; and two sisters, Joan Hoffman and Karen Love.
