Gregory "Gregg" Maurice Murphey, son of David and Beverly Roberson Murphey, was born June 19, 1958, in Joplin, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, July 14, 2004, in his home, in Linn Creek, Missouri, at the age of forty-six years, and twenty-five days.

On October 26, 2003, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ellen Walker, and together they shared the last eight months.

His father, a son, Adam Walker, and his paternal grandfather, Bill Murphey, preceded him in death.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Beverly of the home; his mother, Beverly Myatt, of Joplin, Missouri; a brother, Jeff Murphey, of Roswell, New Mexico; a brother-in-law, Neal Kite, of Garden City, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Barbara Vogel, of Appleton City, Missouri; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Kay Roberson, of Joplin, Missouri; his paternal grandmother, Wanda Murphey, of Baxter Springs, Kansas; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charlotte and Kenney Kite, of Creighton, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born in Joplin, Missouri, and was raised in Baxter Springs, Kansas, where he graduated from high school. He eventually came to the Lake of the Ozarks area in 1985. He had been employed as a greens keeper for a local golf course for the last few years.

Gregg made his profession of faith in Christ and was baptized in July of 2003. He was a member of the Rock House Church in Linn Creek.

In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and caring for his yard. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them.

Gregg was a loving husband, son, brother, and grandson, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2004, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Chapel. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in the Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs, Kansas. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
