Col. J. N. Munro Dies at Frontenac Home
Col. J. M. Munro, retired, former chief of staff of the 88th division reserve officers, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 22, at his home near Frontenac.
Born in Lake City Oct. 7, 1870, he was educated there and after attending the University of Minnesota for three years received a West Point appointment. Upon being graduated from the academy and commissioned, he served in the service of his country on the southern and western frontiers and in the Phillippine islands until 1922, when he was appointed chief of staff of the 88th division. He was retired in 1925 and had lived near Frontenac since.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 23, from the home, and interment was in Lakewood cemetery.
