Juana Munoz Campoy

May 22, 1921 Sept. 11, 2014

Juana Campoy, of Vacaville, born May 22, 1921, met her creator and was reunited with the love of her life, Manuel Campoy, on Sept. 11. Her three daughters were by her side when she passed peacefully in her home. Born in Las Moletas de Lubrin, Almer¡a, Spain, she was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years; married on June 13, 1937.

Shortly after being married, Manuel left to serve in the Spanish Civil War while Juana patiently waited for his return to start their new family together. The post war years in Europe were very difficult which led to their eventual immigration to the United States in 1966. Upon settling in Vacaville with her husband, three daughters, and sons-in-law, they found honest work at Basic Vegetable Products Company. Hard work and perseverance would bring opportunities and prosperity to the family. As time would pass she would continue spending time with her family and carrying on traditions from Spain which included making "roscas" at Christmas time and "Buñuelos" at Easter. Her most cherished moments were the visits by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which always included "abrazos and besos".

Juana is survived by her three daughters, Maria Garcia, Iluminada Campos, and Juana Perez as well as her sons-in-law, Diego, Juan, and Andres all of Vacaville. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Frank Garcia, Frank Campos, Juani Perez, Anna Pehl, Manolo Garcia, and Mari Guzman. Additionally, she is survived by her adoring great-grandchildren, Alex Arteaga, Carlos Arteaga, Amanda Campos, Nicole Garcia, Rachel Campos, Kyle Garcia, Jesse Diego Garcia, Emily Pehl, Stella Garcia, Lorenzo Garcia, Andy and Marco Guzman.

A visitation will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel. A Mass will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Vacaville, with a graveside memorial service following at Fairmont Memorial Park, Fairfield.
