Elizabeth (Munch) Best, 92, of Vernon and formerly of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Stanley G. Best, died peacefully on Monday (November 8, 2010) at Vernon Manor.
She was born in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Arthur and Katherine (Hough) Munch, and would have celebrated her ninety-third birthday tomorrow (November 12).
Elizabeth was a 1940 graduate of Eureka College with a Degree in Home Economics and had lived in the greater Manchester area since 1941. She was a longtime active member of South United Methodist Church in Manchester having served the church in numerous capacities over the years. Mrs. Best was an avid and proficient knitter. She was a former member of the Manchester Square Dance Club and had volunteered with the Meals-On-Wheels in Manchester.
She was a loving mother of four and will be greatly missed by her family, daughter Judith Moynihan and her husband John of Swampscott, MA, three sons and their wives, James G. and Rebeca Best of Manchester, Thomas A. and Luellen Best of Newton, MA, and David B. and Geraldine Best of Andover, MA. Other survivors include her nephew Dick Baker and his wife Kathy, niece Barbara Warne and her husband Bill, nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Katherine Baker.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday (November 13, 2010) at 9:00 a.m. in South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main Street, Manchester.
Burial will be in the East Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester.
