FORT GRATIOT-Irene J. Phillips, 80, died Dec. 16 in Port Huron.
She was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Peck. On Oct. 6, 1944 she married Hugh Phillips. She enjoyed a lengthy nursing career and retired as assistant director of Marwood Manor. She was known for her love of life and nurturing of all things living. She always made her family her first priority and had a way of making each person and every situation special. She was preceded in death by a daughter Marilyn Friedly and a sister Anna Olene Miller.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Carolyn (Bill) Rose of New Albany, Ohio; Linda (Ron Pisoni) Phillips of Ypsilanti and Kathy (Loren) Newton of Traverse City; two sons, Michael (Patty) of Mt. Clemens and Larry (Judy) of Clinton Township; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
