Son of Matthew Mullins and Nancy Gwinn. Husband of Lois Electra Loomis.

John W. Mullins was born in Saline County, MO 1 Jun 1840 and departed this life, March 20, 1927 son of Matthew B. and Mary Mullins. John W. was the 12th child of a family of fourteen children. One sister Mrs. Sarah Rice of Nebraska; Nicholas Mullins of Joplin, MO; James Mullins of Coffeyville, KS survive him. He was united in marriage with Lois E. Loomis at Mendota, MO January 27, 1867. Six children blessed this union, four sons and two daughters. The daughters both preceded their parents in death.

The mother departed this life Jan 15, 1927. The sons are: M.M., Glenwood MO, Elmer, Mendota, MO; J.W., Chicago, IL; W.S., Livonia, MO;

He united with the church at the age of 41 at Omaha, MO, and moved his membership five years later to Concord, MO. About ten years ago he united with the Christian Congregation here in Unionville.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1863 in Co. H., 8th Iowa Cavalry going through some of the hardest battles, then on with General Sherman on his last march to the Sea. He was honorably discharged August 1865 at Macon, GA. Funeral services were held at the christian church conducted by the Rev. J.D. Noland, and the body was laid by the side of his wife in the Unionville Cemetery.
