Mable A. Baker, 82, of Spooner and formerly of Sarona, died on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Spooner Health System Nursing Home.
She was born in Barron on Sept. 4, 1921, to Amil and Mae (Atwater) Mullikin. She attended grade school at Eugene Field School in rural Cumberland and attended three years of high school in Rice Lake, graduating from Cumberland High School in May 1940.
She married George Baker Jr. of Sarona on Nov. 8, 1940.
Survivors include children Joanne Jilek of Delavan, Ronald Baker of Everett, Wash., Judy (Ronald) Rummel of Horicon, Mike (Sally) Baker of Sarona, and Joy (Rick) Walker of Spooner; a daughter-in-law, Donna Baker of Coon Rapids, Minn.; sisters, Betty Henrich of Hudson, Axie Bell Bain of Nampa, Idaho, Adeline Fabian of Colorado, and Hazel Prosser of Pea Ridge, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Larry and Roger; three grandsons, Scott, Dale, and Troy; a great-grandson, Andrew; and sisters, Merlyn Coleman and Marion Christ.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spooner. Pastor Brent Berkesch officiated. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Dahl Funeral Home in Spooner. Spring interment will be in the Madge cemetery.
Casket bearers were her grandchildren, Ronnie Baker Jr., Charlene Markowiak, Marlene Gross, Karen Pillath, Mark Jilek, Eric and Joshua Baker, Sean, Kari, and Joe Walker, Jennie Thompson, Julie McKorkel, and Jamie Abbott. Honorary casket bearers were her great-grandchildren.
