Elizabeth Romaine Benedict, 92, of Inverness, FL, died on Dec. 17, 2008, at the Hospice Care Unit at CMH. Elizabeth was born on Nov. 30, 1916, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Charles and Lillian Mullaney. She moved to Citrus County in 1978 from Hicksville, Long Island. Elizabeth was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Romaine of Beverly Hills, FL, and Carol McHugh (William) of Inverness, FL; six grandchildren, Michelle McHugh of Inverness, FL, Colleen McHugh of Pine Ridge, FL, Deborah Poliseno (Charles) of Lecanto, FL, William McHugh Jr. (Stephanie) of St. Simon, GA, Matthew McHugh (Julia) of Inverness, FL, James McHugh (Sookie) of Orlando, FL; and 13 great-grandchildren, Nichole, Danielle, Charles, Amanda, Kimberley, Caitlyn, Bill, Joel, Ryan, Dylan, Danny, Matthew and Patrick. Visitation for Elizabeth will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Monday, December 22, 2008, at the Heinz Funeral Home, Inverness. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Father James Johnson will preside. Interment will be in New York.
