Johann Baptist Mueller married Francisca Zai February 19, 1827 Kippenheimweiler, Ortenaukreis, Baden-Wurtemberg.

Baptist and Francisca Muller (Mueller, Miller) came to America from Switzerland, with their children about 1848, and eventually settled in Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois.

A passenger list from the ship Oregon December 13, 1848, arriving at New Orleans, Louisiana, having departed from Antwerp, Belgium, lists Francisca Muller, 50, with children: Maria, 18; Magdalena, 16; Catharina, 13; Francisca, 9; Melchoir, 10; and Gotfried, 8. They came from Switzerland, their intended destination is St Louis, MO, where I believe Baptist and "Henry" were living.

The 1850 Ward 1, St Louis City, MO Census lists "Boby" (Baptist) Mueller, 53, and wife "Fr" (Franziska), 52, with children: "Heinr" (Heinrich), 22; Marie, 20; "Cath" (Catharina), 15; "Mich" (Melchoir), 14; "Fr" (Francisca), 13; and "Cattlr" (Gotfried), 9. Baptist and Heinrich are working as milkmen.

In the 1860 Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois Census son Michael (Melchoir) is listed as head of household with his parents living with him. But Baptist is the owner of the real estate valued at $3,000.

In 1870 Baptist, 70, and wife Frances, 70, are the household next door to Michael and his family. Frances Etter, 20, and Emma Miller, 24, domestic servants are also at their household. All were born in Switzerland.
