Martha Anna "Annie" (Moyers) Emerson was born September 3, 1895 in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of Patrick Henry Moyers (1864-1918) and Margaret Eleanora "Ella" (Lasley) Moyers (1868-1944).

She was married to Clarence Lester Emerson (1895-1939), and at least from about 1925 to 1935, the family was in Cleveland, Ohio, and the 1930 census has Clarence as a street car conductor there. He died on January 7, 1939 and was buried in Ohio. The next year, in the 1940 census, Annie was a widow living back in Davidson County, Tennessee with her sister Ruth and their mother Ella.

Living at 1512 Riverside Drive in rural Nashville, Annie was 55 years old and a widow when she died at home of cancer on February 28, 1951. Burial was on March 3rd in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
