Doris Auretta Moy was born to parents John and Hazel (Anderson) Moy. She was baptized and confirmed at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail. She attended grade school in Trail and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1941. Doris married Lester Evje on November 6, 1947 and together they raised 6 children. Doris and Lester farmed in Eden Township until Lester's death on June 18, 1995. Doris remained on the farm until her death. Doris was an active member in her community – as David said "you name it – she was in it!" She was devoted to her church in Trail, the Trail VFW Auxiliary, she wrote the Trail News for many years, served as treasurer of Eden Township for 42 years, and she was an active member of the Trail Community Club and Sons of Norway. She had many interests; baseball (The Trail Turtles and the Twins), dancing, crossword puzzles, traveling, and placing a name in the family tree whether it was her tree or someone else's tree.
