BOONVILLE - Mattie Gay Moxley Benton, 61, passed away Wednesday August 25, 2010 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born October 12, 1948 to the late Garrett Hobert & Mattie Ruth Long Moxley. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Boonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel "Sammy" Ray Benton in 1983; and a sister, Martha Shore. Surviving are her daughter, Amy (Michael) Rector, of Hamptonville; two brothers, Roger (Jean) Moxley and Roy Moxley, both of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Shady Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Brian Thompson. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the Service. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Shady Grove Baptist Church 3808 Center Rd. Boonville, NC 27011.
