Pauline Mouser Thompson Bouse March 3, 1926 - October 28, 2010 A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Avenue in Bakersfield, for Pauline Mouser Thompson Bouse, 84, who passed from this life, on October 28, 2010. Pauline Mouser was born to Ted and Ethel (Butler) Mouser on March 3, 1926, in Cromwell, Oklahoma. She was the eldest of seven children. She attended various grade schools in Oklahoma and California, and high school in Shafter, California. As a child, Pauline received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, and served Him to the best of her ability throughout her life. She was the epitome of the "Greatest Generation" woman, possessing lifelong strength of character and resolve which were born of surviving great adversity. Pauline was 15 years old when she met James Edward Thompson in Shafter, California. It was during a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive in the countryside near Shafter, while listening to the radio, that they first learned of the attack on Pearl Harbor - the event which would change the course of their lives. Just two months after Pauline's 16th birthday, they were married and shortly thereafter, James went into the U.S. Army. During the months of James' stateside training, their son Glenn was born, and their son Randy was conceived. Pauline gave birth to Randy while James was serving overseas. At the end of the war, James came home to California to begin a new life with Pauline and their boys. During the ensuing years, they added Jan and Teri to their brood. After James' graduation from Ouachita Baptist College in Arkansas, they returned to California, where James taught in public schools, and also planted and pastored three Southern Baptist Churches in Kernville and Bakersfield (Rexland Acres and Faith Avenue) with Pauline at his side. Pauline possessed a great work ethic, and always worked hard inside and outside the home. She was a faithful pastor's wife, mother of four children, accomplished seamstress, church choir director, and Sunday School teacher. Outside the home, she worked at various jobs in Bakersfield, until she finally found her niche as a bookkeeper for S.A. Camp Companies. After 20+ years, she retired from there to travel the country with James in their RV. Throughout their 47-year marriage, James and Pauline enjoyed a joyful life of devotion and service to the Lord, to one another, and to others. After James' sudden death in 1989, Pauline experienced living alone for the first time in her life. The following year, she met and married Gerald (Jerry) Bouse in Ridgecrest, CA. He loved her dearly, and they lived contentedly together, until Jerry's passing. Pauline loved and embraced Jerry's family as her own. For the last seven years of her life, Pauline experienced devastating physical weakness due to Auto-immune Hepatitis. She fought the good fight. She finished the course. She is now enjoying all that Heaven held in store. Those of us who know the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior will see her again there. Who could ask for more? Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ethel Mouser; by her husband of 47 years, James Thompson, in 1989; and by her second husband of 12 years, Jerry Bouse, in 2002. She is survived by her children, Glenn and Karen Thompson, Randy and Phyllis Thompson, Jan and Wally Simmons, and Teri and Jerry Goree; by her step-children, Bob and Linda Bouse, and Gary and Linda Bouse; by 16 grandchildren; and by 33 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her six siblings and their spouses; and her siblings-in-law from the Thompson clan; as well as by many other cherished family members and friends. Pauline was a Charter Member of Valley Baptist Church in Bakersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church may be made in Pauline's name by those who prefer that method of honoring her memory. Pauline's children extend special thanks to her faithful Valley Baptist prayer partner, Anita Shepard, to her devoted caregivers from Northpoint Village of Bakersfield, and to the wonderful nurses and staff at Hoffmann Hospice, all of whom went above and beyond the call of duty in caring for our beautiful mom. May God bless you richly for your loving and dedicated service to her and to us!
