STELLA "MAW" ELLIS, 92, of Logan, W.Va., surrounded by her family, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born April 17, 1916, a daughter of the late Harve and Armita (Stollings) Mounts. Also preceding her in death was her beloved husband, the Rev. William Riley Ellis; daughter, Aretta Chambers; son, Robert "Bobby" Ellis; two grandsons, Johnny Smith and Jimmy Ellis; and one brother and one sister. "Maw" was a member of the West Logan Church of God and enjoyed spending time with her loving family. Those left behind to cherish her memory are five daughters, Betty (Harold) Wynada of Florida, Bess (Don) Winters of Mitchell Heights, W.Va., Ruth Smith of Georgia, Juanita Ellis of Ripley, W.Va., and Linda (Mack) Gillenwater of Lavalette, W.Va.; two sons, the Rev. James "Tiny" (Kay) Ellis of Stollings, W.Va., and Rev. Cliff (Julia "Pinky") Ellis of Ranger, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren, David (Cathy) Bates, Vicky Richardson, Brenda Britt, Timmy Britt, Rick (Michelle) Winters, Donetta (Ken) Wilcox, Scottie (Janet) Ellis, Shelia White, Terry (Pam) Ellis, Bernie (Elise) Smith, Trish (Brian) Hussel, Natalie (Andy) Rakes, Tracy (Wendall) Furtick, Cliff "Junebug" (Sarah) Ellis, Randy (Brandy) Ellis, Lisa (Chris) Seaman and Tamara (Sean) Fugate; 25 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, W.Va., with the Rev. Tony Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, W.Va. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family extends special thanks to caregiver Betty Manley, St. Mary's Medical Center Pulmonary and Oncology Unit, Dr. Daniels and Hospice of Huntington for your love, compassion and wonderful care you gave our beloved "Maw."
