Mrs. Fannie Louise Mottley Lowry, age 100, died Tuesday, September 8, 1992 at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Graveside services were held Friday, Sept. 11 at Prospect Cemetery with Dr. Bryan Scarbrough officiating.
The daughter of the late John Tinsley Mottley and the late Josephine Murrier Mottley, she attended Mississippi Normal College, Mississippi A&M and Ole Miss and taught school at Maud and Midway Schools before becoming Postmaster at Houston Post Office where she served from 1935 until her retirement in 1957. She was the widow of the late Columbus Doss Lowry, who passed away July 9, 1982 and was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Maddux and Mrs. Joan Houston, both of Batesville, Mrs. Rosemary Rhine of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Louise Earnest of Woodland; 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
