Ethel Marie Hollier 2/10/1915 - 5/10/2003 Ethel Marie Hollier was born in Okmulgee, OK. She was the third of thirteen children born to Lawrence Motte and Elizabeth (Dyels) Motte. Influenced by a strong family tradition, she spent much of her life dedicated to church related activities. According to the Chancery of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, her parents presented her for baptism on April 11, 1915. She attended Uganda Martyrs Church in Okmulgee until she moved to Oklahoma City in 1957, when she joined Corpus Christi Church. While serving an several committees and providing leadership for many projects at Uganda Martyrs and Corpus Christi her 'contributions, accomplishments, and faith' have been lauded as noteworthy. In 1997, she received kudos for her efforts, when she was inducted into the Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church African American Hall of Fame. While she found time for many activities, her greatest passions were quilting, letter writing, and gardening. She was a quilter and gardener of the human spirit as well. She devoted her time and efforts to all those who could benefit from her care. For several years she kept alive a ministry for the needy. In 1989, the Board of Governors of Five Who Care (5 Alive KOCO-TV) saluted her with the 'Award of Honor' as a 'Special Volunteer whose Contributions as a Caring Oklahoman are Outstanding.' She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, as well. Her husband of fifty-seven years, Henry Hollier, Jr. preceded her in death on February 24, 2002. Her memory will always be cherished by her children and grandchildren. Even her great grandchildren lined up for their special time with 'Momee.' Those left to honor her memory are her three children: Veronica Carroll, J. Bernard Hollier, and Janet Hollier: her grandchildren: Jacqueline Norris, Mark Holman, Carmen Holman, Stephanie Hollier, and James Hollier; and her great grandchildren: Ashlee, Carlee, Kelcee, Breanna, and Jazmin. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Dan Carroll, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Hollier, and six sisters and brothers: Hazel Hall, Leon Motte, Joseph Motte, Eunice Jackson, Bernice MacMillan, and Sr. Brenda Motte, O.S.P. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, May 16, 2003 at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church under the direction of Temple & Sons Funeral Directors, Inc. Interment is in Resurrection Cemetery. The Vigil will be held 7:00 PM Thursday May 15, 2003 in the Earl M. Temple Memorial Chapel.
