From the FAMILY BIBLE OF COLONEL ISAAC MOTTE:
Elizabeth Motte Haig (17 Feb 1788-2 Sept 1855), child of Col. Isaac & Mary Broughton Motte, granddaughter of Alexander and Mary Broughton, of Kibbleworth, of the parish of St. Johns Berkeley, widow of Doctor Hezekiah Maham Haig is buried at the chapel cemetery. She rests beside her aunt and brother at the family burial place in Goose Creek Parish called the 23 Mile Chapel.
Elizabeth Motte, sixth child of Isaac & Mary Motte, was born the 17th February 1788 at six o'clock in the morning, and was baptized by the Rev Doctor Henry Purcell, Rector of St. Michael's Parish, the 12th April following.
Elizabeth Motte, sixth child of Isaac & Mary Motte, married Doctor Hezekiah Maham Haig of South Carolina 20th July 1820.
Departed this Life at Brewton Hill Plantation in Georgia, Dr. H. Maham Haig on the 14th of January 1836. Aged 49. He was placed beside his brother, Captain George Haig in a vault on the plantation of the latter. "Sleep, blessed Father, Sleep, till the last trumpet of Jehovah Shall call thee from thy rest; & may thy child be counted worthy to be with thee from thy rest; & may thy child be counted worthy to be with thee in the land "where the wicked cease from troubling, & the weary are at rest. M.H.M.
On the 2nd September 1855 in Charleston, Elizabeth Motte, widow of Dr. H. M. Haig- She rests beside her aunt and brother at the family burial place in Goose Creek Parish called the 23 Mile Chapel. By her desire she was placed there by her children.
