Charlsie Carlin Moss Elkins, 78, of Athens, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at her residence.
A native and resident of McMinn County for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Charles Fellan and Tabitha Dorcus Vaughn Moss, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette Moss, Edna Carruth and Lora Griggs; and one brother, Arvin Moss. A member of Fairview Baptist Church, she was a 1950 graduate of McMinn County High School. She was a former employee of Niota Textile Mills, one of the Original Pink Ladies at Woods Memorial Hospital and was a member of NAMI.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Elbert Wilson Elkins of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael V. and Tena Elkins of Athens; two daughters and one son-in-law, Elbra and Gene Morgan of Ooltewah, and Angela Renee Cormell of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Brent Mill, Adam V. Elkins, Benjamin Elkins, Brandon Morgan and Brian Elkins; and four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to the friends of Charlsie who helped during her illness, who became our special friends.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Allen officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be George Ratledge, Jerry King, Glen Allen, Steve Chandler, Steve Denny and Guy Stevens.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
