A large circle of friends will learn with deepest sorrow of the death, at her home, 224 South Second East street, of Mrs. Louise P., wife of J. Johnson. She was taken down with typhoid fever July 24th, and was called to her reward quietly and peacefully at 8 o'clock Monday evening, August 16th. She was born in Ross County, Ohio, January 9, 1843. From childhood she has been a devoted Christian, uniting with the Presbyterian church when she was 16.

Thirty years ago she was married to J. Johnson, taking charge of the training of his two little motherless boys. One of these was called home many years ago. The other, the Rev. S. M. Johnson, mainly through her influence, became a Presbyterian minister, and is widely known as one of the most efficient among the younger ministers of that denomination. He was for many years pastor of the Twenty-third Avenue Presbyterian church of Denver, and is now pastor of the Presbyterian church at Highland Park, Chicago. He arrived here last Saturday afternoon, in response to a telegram. He was recognized by his mother, although she was too sick to talk with him.

One daughter survives, Mrs. Wade Loofbourow. She and her husband are both active members of the First Presbyterian church in this city. Ever since she came to this city, eight years ago, Mrs. Johnson has been one of the most valued and efficient members of this church. She was active in every kind of Christian and benevolent work so far as her health would permit. By her death the needy, the sick and the sorrowing have lost a most devoted friend. And many grieving hearts in the community will share in the sorrow of the members of her family.

The funeral services were held at the house yesterday at 11 o'clock. Though brief and simple, in accordance with Mrs. Johnson's wish, they were none the less impressive, and were conducted by Dr. McNiece, who had been Mrs. Johnson's pastor ever since she came to the city. A quartette from the First Presbyterian church choir sang very sweetly two of her favorite hymns, and her body was laid to rest in the beautiful Mt. Olivet cemetery.
