Marguerite Morton, daughter of Alfred and
Minnie Morton was born November 27,
1898 on a farm east of Frankfort, Kansas
and passed away at her home July 8, 1962
at the age of 63 years.
In 1904 she moved with her family to western
Kansas where they resided in Jewel and Smith
counties for 13 years. She attended two years
of high school at Lebanon. In 1917 they
returned to Marshall county where she
attended Frankfort High School and graduated
with the class of 1919. She then taught school
in Marshall county for two years.
She was united in marriage to Justin Harper
on September 11, 1920 in the Presbyterian
Church in Marysville, Kansas. To this union
two children were born, Marjorie M. and
John A. From 1920 to 1952 the Harper
family resided on a farm near Frankfort then
moving to the family home in town in 1952.
She was a very active member of the Presby-
terian Church and a devout Christian. She
was an elder, clerk of the sessions and
teacher of the Gleaners Sunday School
She is survived by her husband, Justin;
Daughter, Marjorie Kling, Belpre, Ohio
And son, John A. Harper of Frankfort,
Kansas, a grandson, her mother, Minnie
Morton, Vermillion, Kansas two sisters,
Mrs. Clarence Roeder, Westmoreland,
Kansas and Mrs. Milton Crawford,
Vermillion, Kansas, nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian
Church Wednesday, July 11, 1962 at 10:30
a.m. with Reverend Coyne Gifford officiating.
Interment was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Pallbearers were Emmett Hale, Keith Beeman,
Ralph Cummings, Winifred Lucas, Francis
Harland, and Robert Feldhausen.
