Madeline Crawford, 99, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Frankfort Community Care Home, Frankfort.
A service was at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the United Methodist Church, Vermillion. The Rev. Jennifer Collins officiated. Burial was in Vermillion Cemetery.
The congregation sang "Amazing Grace," "O Master, Let Me Walk With Thee," "When We All Get To Heaven" and "To God Be The Glory," accompanied by Karen Matson, organist.
She was born May 6, 1902, north of Vliets, the daughter of Alfred and Minnie Stump Morton. Her family moved to Smith County where she graduated from elementary school. They returned to Frankfort, then moved to a farm west of Frankfort.
She became a member of the United Methodist Church at age 16. She attended and graduated in normal training from Frankfort High School in 1921. She taught in rural elementary schools in the districts near her parents' home.
She married Milton H. Crawford May 12, 1924. They made their home on the Virgil Dudgeon Crawford family farm east of Vermillion.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Vermillion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton; a son, Virgil; a grandson, David; and a sister, Marguerite Harper.
She is survived by a daughter, Mirian Roberts; a sister, Marjorie Roeder; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Shell Crawford; a granddaughter-in-law, Alice Burton Crawford; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren
