William Jason Morton was the oldest son of Benjamin Ellis Morton and Jane Elder Tannahill. He was raised in a happy home with many family members around. His father had served in the Civil War and his grandfather, William Tannahill had died in that same war. He married Grace Brunner in Salt Lake on Aug 12, 1901 at the age of 33. To this union were born two boys, Charles Bruner and Jean Ray.
