ANDREW MORSE
While people were going to the funeral of Mrs. Wilcox last Sunday the report became generally current that Andrew Morse had died the evening before of pneumonia at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.C. Briggs. Until the announcement of his death came it was not generally known even that he had been sick. The news, therefore, was no small surprise to the community. Mr. Morse was an early resident of Valley county and has long been counted among the early settlers. His early residence here was devoted to his farm, but failing health had caused his removal to Ord.
Andrew Morse was born in Wareham, Mass., Dec. 17, 1827, Died Dec. 18, 1892 at the residence of his son-in-law, Harry Briggs in Ord, Nebr., aged 65 years and 1 day.
He leaves a wife and 5 children. He enlisted in 1861 for 90 days, in Company C. 1st Reg of Rhode Island Cavalry. Returned and re-enlisted and remained in active service until the close of the war when he was honorable discharged. At the close of the war he was married Miss Emily C. Wentworth. Came to Nebraska in the spring of 1876 and located on a farm near Elyria, Nebraska, where he lived until about one year ago, at which time he moved to Ord, Nebr., where he resided until the time of his death.
