PORTLAND - Clyda L. 'Posie' Morse, 76, of Cumberland Avenue, died Feb. 6, 2005 at a Portland hospital after a long illness.

Born in Portland on July 17, 1928, she was the daughter of H. Clayton and Cora F. (Blanchard) Laverty. Educated in Westbrook schools, she was a graduate of Westbrook High School, Class of 1946.

Mrs. Morse had been employed for the former Ellis Paperboard, of Portland and for many years at the former Sebago Moc Company of Westbrook.

She was a member of the Mizpah Chapter #3 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She loved her home on Harmon's Beach. She and her husband made their home there for 28 years, before moving to Portland.

In the early 1960s, when her sister Janet was ill, Posie took her niece Tina into her home so she could care for her. She along with her husband also took care of her granddaughter Erin traveling to Portland from Harmon's Beach for two years to do so. Her granddaughter was the joy of her life.

On May 1, 2004, she and her husband Paul H. Morse celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He predeceased her on Oct. 6, 2004.

She was an avid cook, loved to knit and do cross word puzzles, she enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers and loved to can and pickle vegetables that she grew. Ice fishing, smelting and deer hunting with her husband were also enjoyable to her.

A sister, Janet L. Miele also predeceased her in February of 1961.

Surviving are a daughter, Amy Winn and her husband Stephen, and a granddaughter, Erin Winn, all of Portland; twin sister, Cora 'Tillie' Duchaineau of Westbrook; a niece, Tina Pomerleau of Raymond; and two nephews, Jonathan Miele of Windham and Mark Miele of Lauderhill, Fla.

There will be no visiting hours. A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to: The American Cancer Society, New England Division, One Main Street, Suite 130, Topsham, Maine 04086
