A rare soul was translated to the larger life of the spirit, when Mildred Morris Archer entered into the life more abundant on November 16, 1946. Born in Utica, New York, the daughter of Clinton D. and Nellie Borden Morris, she was a granddaughter of the Rev. Seymour Morris of Frankfort, Herkimer County, New York.
United in marriage to Rev. Lincoln G. Archer, May 8, 1928, she gave herself with self-effacing devotion to her family and her church. She coveted no higher blessedness than the humble ministries of home and church. Her own virtues were quietly multiplied through the many lives she touched and blessed.
She possessed a genius for motherhood, which was unstinting in her devotion to her three children, Donald Alton, Roland Lincoln and Phyllis Irma. It was her delight to bestow affections, loyalty and helpfulness to all within her reach. Her personal faith was characterized by constant growth such as to include progressive revelations of the Divine.
Her never-too-strong body hindered her from achieving all that the spirit within prompted her to desire, but always she expressed in practical human terms the loving kindness od the Heavenly Father she knew and loved.
A service beautiful in its simplicity was conducted at East Aurora: Baker Memorial Church on Sunday afternoon, November 17, 1947. Rev. Dr. John Wesley Searles, Superintendent of Buffalo District, presided. The prayer was given by the Rev. Harleigh M. Rosenberger, pastor of Lockport Baptist Church. A message of comfort and hope was given by Bishop Walter Earl Ledden of Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York. Rev. Richard J. Davey, pastor of Buffalo: Asbury Delaware Church, gave the personal tribute. Interment was in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Utica, New York, where the obsequies were conducted by the Rev. William A. Wilbur of Mohawk, New York
