He graduated from Groton School and Yale, and after studying art in Paris became the editor of a number of art publications. He has been an instructor at the Art Students League and was artist in residence at the St. John's College. Through 1966 he was director of the New York City of Music and Drama. He was founder of the American Association of Abstract Artists and the Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors, and was a member of a number of other clubs and associations. Including the Lenox Club, which has been called "the most exclusive club in the world." He was the son of the late Newbold Morris, and Helen Schermerhorn Kingsland-Morris. His late brother, Newbold, was president of the Borough Council of New York City and a former park commissioner. A surviving brother Stephen V.C. Morris, a retired diplomat, is also a summer resident of the family estate in Lenox. The Searing - Stevens funeral home, Stockbridge, is in charge of local arrangements, which are incomplete.
