OAKLAND -- Gracia M. Cook, 93, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at the Oak Grove Living Center in Waterville. She was born in Richmond on May 14, 1915, the daughter of Ora W. And Elizabeth (Libby) Morrill. Gracia grew up in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School.
She moved to Oakland when she married Charles L. Cook in 1944; he died Dec. 26, 1987.
Gracia was employed at the Hollingsworth & Whitney Co. (Scott Paper Co.) for several years. Later she worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone.
She was a member of the 4-H Club for years and a member of the Benton Grange. She belonged to the Heritage Antique Club in Waterville and enjoyed her membership with the Oakland Garden Club. She also enjoyed fishing and camping. She was a former member of the Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church in Waterville and a current member of the North Belgrade Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother in law Alfred Cook of Oakland and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At her request there will be no visiting or funeral. A grave side service will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade in the spring. (Bangor Daily News 12/31/2008)
