Mildred "Mimi", age 91, of Monroe, beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, entered eternal life on Tuesday. She was born to Alfred & Anna Morgenthaler. In 1923 the family relocated to Monroe. She was a graduate of Monroe High School Class of 1938. In 1936 she met the love of her life, Forrest Kubly and they married on Feb. 22, 1941 in Dubuque, IA. Later that same day they attended a UW-Madison men's basketball game. A devoted wife and homemaker, her family came first. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ/Naomi Circle and an honorary member of Monroe Women's Club. She was a long-time member of Monroe Country Club where she took part in the "San-souci" dance club and enjoyed golfing. Mimi loved the sport of curling. She was a bridge player, Girl Scout leader, naturally talented piano player, and she was proud of her Swiss and German heritage, having traveled to Switzerland many times. She loved her polkas! An avid UW Badgers fan, attending, home and away football games for over 50 years, she and Forrest have established their own University of Wisconsin athletic scholarship. She will be dearly missed by her husband of nearly 70 years, Forrest Kubly, and their daughters, Donna (James) Lovelace, Martinez, GA, Sue Kubly, San Francisco, CA, and Shelley (Michael) Muranyi, Monroe, WI; three granddaughters, Erika (Martin) Comella, Cumming, GA, Kimberly (James) McMahon, Elgin, SC, Anna Day Kubly, San Francisco, CA; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Derek, and Sarah Comella and Leah and Ian McMahon. We express our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to all who helped make these past several years of her life one of dignity and grace, as she bore the challenges of Alzheimer's disease. A special thank you to Dee Dee Seffrood who loved her dearly, and the many caregivers who helped along the way. A Memorial service was held on Wednesday at ST. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe.
Contributions may be made in her memory to: Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin, Monroe Clinic Hospice, St. Johns United Church of Christ, or UWF Badger Fund-Forrest and Mildred Kubly scholarship. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, assisted with arrangements.
